10% of Profits Support Atlantic Salmon Restoration in Maine

Chris Mullen, captain of FV Chris R and principal of Mongr.net.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Chris Mullen. I have been fishing for salmon in Alaska since 1988. This year marked our fifth year with our own boat, a Bristol Bay gillnetter. It's a family operation with my brother JP taking time off from lobstering in Maine to come north for the season, and my son Wolf on the crew.  It's also a family tradition and an extension of our saltwater upbringing on Vinalhaven, an island in Maine where Wolf's grandfather is still lobstering and loving life in his mid-80s.

Bristol Bay is legendary for the abundance of its salmon run, and for the way fishermen, scientists, and managers work together to sustainably harvest that incredible abundance.  Every Bristol Bay permit holder is the owner/ operator of a small family business, and we are all in it to keep this fishery going for a long time to come.

We are proud to bring this wild and healthy fish home to Maine tables, and to support the efforts of the Downeast Salmon Federation to restore river habitat and the runs of our native Atlantic salmon.

It's also important to us to support Maine's small-scale harvesters and processors. So, this year we have partnered with Cobscook Kitchen and Market to bring you sustainably harvested scallops, caught by day-boat fishermen. We're also working with Smith's Log Smokehouse to offer cold smoked sockeye.
